Flight 5 Now Live!

Flight 5 is touching down in the summer with four linked pieces about the institutions and forces that shape our lives. We begin with sterling-elizabeth arcadia’s poem, “t4t” in which desire finds a place within the medical establishment. Next is Will Musgrove’s story, “The Marshmallow Story,” about a man unable to reconcile what he thinks he deserves with his reality at work. In Donna Vorreyer’s essay, “What Ben Said Sarah Said,” she takes us to a moment where music forcefully moved her to process both of her parents’ experiences with hospice care. Flight 5 comes to a close with our Brewer’s Choice selection by Matthew Jakubowski, “Rarely Somewhat Acceptable,” which at first glance appears to be a standard medical intake survey. As the piece progresses, it becomes more claustrophobic, mirroring the speaker’s declining condition.

Summer is the perfect time for sour beers and shandies on the patio. Each piece serves up a different flavor, so we know there’s something for everyone. Welcome to Flight 5. We’re glad you’re here.
