Flight 4 Now Live!

While Flight 3 was focused on art and the artistic process, Flight 4 explores family relationships. As with our previous issue, we began building Flight 4 by choosing a poem, Natalie Marino’s piece “On Limitation.” We were struck by the spare, precise language of the text, and the clarity of the images. By the time Marino’s speaker remembers, “my mother/had the scent of vinegar and cypress trees,” we knew we had found our issue’s theme. Next, we added Emily Rinkema’s hilarious, surreal, “Tiny Little Babies,” a story of sisters and newfound parenthood that made us laugh out loud and race to send the acceptance email. After that came Adam Shaw’s essay, “Memorial Day,” a poignant essay about the author visiting his father’s grave. Like each of our previous issues, the final piece in the set was our Brewer’s Choice selection. For issue four, we were thrilled to receive the collaborative piece, “The past is light you can no longer see,” from Ben Kline and Holly Prochaska, a hybrid work written in the form of a naval field report that explores the myths that raise us.

We appreciate you dropping in, whether it’s for your first issue or your fourth. Whether you’re drinking a porter or an IPA, we’ve got something for everyone. Welcome to Flight 4. We’re glad you’re here.
