About Us

The idea for Flight: A Literary Sampler, was born 30,000 feet above Los Angeles. One of the editors was hungover, flying back from AWP, still dreaming about the flight of beers they had at a sketchy bar the night before. The idea was to launch a literary site that would offer just four pieces in each edition: one poem, one story, one essay, and one…something else. By the time the plane landed, they had a page full of notes, a co-editor, and plan.

We welcome readers to sample each edition with their favorite beer in hand. Editors choose the pieces included in each issue with an eye toward how they complement each other. Reading an issue of Flight will feel like dropping into the neighborhood bar to make a few new friends on your way home from work.
